About
It is the mission of the Housing Authority of the City of Columbus, (Columbus Housing Authority), to provide safe, decent, and sanitary housing to low and very low-income families, in an environment that fosters self-sufficiency and community pride.
Columbus Housing Authority has several resident opportunities for youth including: youth after school programs in partnership with the Lowndes County Boys and Girls Club, Columbus Housing Youth Enrichment Summer Program (CHYESP) which offers 4 weeks of educational and recreational summer activities and Girls Scout programming for female residents aged 5-17.
Columbus Housing Authority also has several resident opportunities for adults including: adult educational workshops on everything from budgeting to stress management, senior day camp for residents aged 55 and up, monthly site meetings to address concerns and host educational speakers and Red Ribbon Week which is an event held in conjunction with National Red Ribbon Campaign geared around tobacco, smoking, gang and drug awareness and prevention (usually held the last week of October.)
