About
Institute of Community Services Head Start in Lowndes County is a federally funded program dedicated to providing free early childhood education, health, and family development services to promote school readiness and family self-sufficiency. To support early development, their Early Head Start program provides full-day care for infants and toddlers alongside USDA-approved meals and basic supplies. For older children, the Head Start Preschool offers classroom-based instruction for ages 3 to 5 to build foundational academic, social-emotional, and kindergarten readiness skills. The organization also coordinates comprehensive health support, including developmental screenings, vision and hearing checks, dental referrals, and tailored care for children with special needs. Additionally, parents receive dedicated caseworker support for setting family goals, accessing job and education referrals, and participating in parenting classes.
